65 Herpesviruses

The family of herpesviruses (Herpetoviridae) in­cludes herpes simplex 1 and 2 viruses, varicella zoster virus, Epstein-Barr virus, and the cytomega­lovirus. All are double-stranded DNA viruses of icosahedral form, enclosed in a Iipid-Containing enve­lope, and ranging in size from 120 to 180 nanometers.
